Just a quick note to urge you to donate to the GoFundMe of Dave Thomas, the editor, publisher and sole proprietor of A Kick Up the R’s (AKUTR’s), the best known QPR fanzine. (That’s him in the flat cap above collecting an award from QPR in the Community Trust.)
Dave has been a match-day fixture for decades, stationed outside the Loftus Road entrance – and at away games, too – selling copies of his fanzine, often hawking it by crying out: “A kick up the R’s.” Anyway, I’m sure you all know who is. The reason to donate to his fundraiser is because he was rushed into intensive care four weeks ago thanks to an abscess on his gallbladder. (I’m not betraying any confidences here – he’s written about it himself on X.)
He’s now out of hospital, awaiting an operation, but has inevitably run up some bills in the course of being out of action, hence the fundraiser. He’s also had to miss a few games, which means lost opportunities to sell AKUTR’s, so a donation will help Dave keep the publication alive. I’ve donated and I hope you will too.
You can find Dave’s GoFundMe here.
